Our Vision & Beliefs

VISION

Our life as Lampstand Church is to first know Jesus as Savior and Lord and to make Him known.  We focus on making him known to others through our love. The lampstand is a piece of the larger Body of Christ where Jesus is the head. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be a working body and a loving fellowship that meets people where they are as they grow in their walk with Christ. We want to be a community-minded Church that is without walls where relevant worship, fellowship, and service are vital for spiritual growth. We believe that the world is craving the love of God and we seek to be the living example of the power of God resting on people.

BELIEFS

We believe we are called to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.  So, how do we do that?

  • We believe...All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-18
  • With Christians everywhere, we worship the only true God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We worship Him personally and corporately.
  • We believe that a relationship with Jesus is how a person becomes a child of God.  Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one can come to the Father except through Me."  John 14:6
  • The Holy Spirit grants us faith and enables holiness.  We believe in the work and leading of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer and in the life of His church.
  • Jesus teaches us that we are to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds.  No part of us is off limits to the sanctifying claims of God.

OUR JOURNEY: Lampstand Church Story

Begin with the end in mind.

Please join us in living out these exciting times of our Church history.

Originally Woodland Chapel was born the year of 1956. We celebrated our Year of Jubilee in September 2006. We moved to our current worship location in 2009 and we changed our name from Woodland Chapel to Lampstand Presbyterian Church

Our church family has a long history of growing in the grace God has made available to us and proclaiming the Gospel Message to those who live in the shadows of despair, injury, and isolation. This is apparent through our Mission Statement, “To know Jesus as Savior and Lord and to make Him known.”

The name LAMPSTAND comes from the book of Matthew:

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Join us in this journey to be the light of the world and give all the glory to our Father who is in heaven.
